The muffin tin kids and I had the pleasure of visiting True Food Kitchen last week. Have you heard of it? I don’t want to gush too much, lest you think I am exaggerating. But, it’s fabulous. The menu is centered on Dr. Andre Weil’s Anti-Inflammatory Diet and Food Pyramid. Dining out with kids and trying to find a place that offers a menu that is both healthy and yummy can be hard. Here are a few photos of what we had:
The kids and I started with the local crudité appetizer… carrots, broccolini, sweet peppers, and heirloom tomatoes served over a bowl of ice. Amazing! I felt like we were sampling a CSA box. There was so much bounty, we brought some home. Broccolini is now on MTGirl’s list of favorite veggies. The kids ate chicken sausage pizza. They kept making sure it was “good for them”. “Are you sure, Mommy?” They asked. "Yep."
I had the red chili shrimp over noodles. It was the perfect portion and flavor. I also had a killer lemon-ginger sorbet for dessert.
Food that is not just good, but good for me?
Global, seasonal, sustainable food that I don’t have to prepare and slave over for one meal? I can treat myself? Sign me up! Take me out.
It was such a wonderful experience. I can’t wait to back. So, whether you live locally or you are visiting California or Arizona soon, you will want to visit True Food Kitchen.

*disclosure: I attended a pre-opening lunch for the newest True Food Kitchen location here in San Diego (Fashion Valley) that opened July 2nd. I received my meal for free, but was under no obligation to write about it. I just really really wanted to share with you about it. all opinions are my own.
